Historique et \u00e9volution :<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>
La chapelle Notre-Dame de l\u2019Epinette doit son nom \u00e0 la statuette de Notre-Dame de Bon Secours plac\u00e9e dans un arbre d\u2019aub\u00e9pine. En effet, celle-ci \u00e9tait tr\u00e8s v\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9e par les passants. Ainsi, la chapelle fut construite \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 de cet arbre.<\/p>
En juin 1958, un comit\u00e9 pr\u00e9sid\u00e9 par l\u2019abb\u00e9 Toubeau et quelques paroissiens de Plantis d\u00e9cident de participer b\u00e9n\u00e9volement \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9dification d\u2019un sanctuaire d\u00e9di\u00e9 \u00e0 la Vierge de l\u2019Epinette. Ainsi, il fut d\u00e9cid\u00e9 que cet \u00e9difice serait situ\u00e9 dans le Champ du haut de Plantis gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 une donation de Arthur Dehon, propri\u00e9taire d\u2019Offignies, faite en 1958 \u00e0 l\u2019A.S.B.L. du Doyennet\u00e9 de Dour. Par la suite, les plans de la chapelle furent r\u00e9alis\u00e9s par l\u2019architecte, Gilbert Capouillez. En septembre 1959, il est signal\u00e9 que les travaux de construction de la chapelle Notre-Dame de l\u2019Epinette vont \u00eatre entam\u00e9s. Celle-ci sera construite dans un style architectural moderne. Au cours de l\u2019ann\u00e9e 1960, elle est inaugur\u00e9e. Le 11 novembre 1961 eut lieu la c\u00e9r\u00e9monie de la b\u00e9n\u00e9diction \u00e0 son attention. Par la suite, le 30 avril 1962, eut lieu la b\u00e9n\u00e9diction d\u00e9finitive de la statue de la Vierge de l\u2019Epinette, cr\u00e9\u00e9e par Edouard Coulon.<\/p>
Par ailleurs, il est int\u00e9ressant de constater que malgr\u00e9 les nombreuses messes et processions qui eurent lieu jusqu\u2019en 1970, la chapelle fut abandonn\u00e9e pendant quelques ann\u00e9es. Les raisons de cet abandon ne sont pas connues avec pr\u00e9cision. Cependant, aux alentours des ann\u00e9es 1980, elle connut un renouveau gr\u00e2ce au Vicaire Dermaut qui constitua une \u00e9quipe de b\u00e9n\u00e9voles afin de la restaurer. Toutefois, malgr\u00e9 cette restauration, il manquait encore \u00e0 la chapelle une cloche permettant d\u2019appeler les fid\u00e8les. Ainsi, ce n\u2019est seulement qu\u2019en 1984 qu\u2019elle fut dot\u00e9e d\u2019une cloche provenant de l\u2019\u00e9cole de la Sainte Union. N\u00e9anmoins, quelques mois plus tard, la chapelle connut un grand nombre d\u2019actes de vandalisme en raison de son \u00e9loignement g\u00e9ographique. Suite \u00e0 ces d\u00e9gradations, il fut d\u00e9cid\u00e9 que la statue de la Vierge de l\u2019Epinette serait d\u00e9plac\u00e9e afin de la pr\u00e9server. C\u2019est pourquoi, le 17 juin 1987, la statue fut transport\u00e9e \u00e0 la chapelle de Trich\u00e8res afin que les fid\u00e8les puissent continuer \u00e0 venir la v\u00e9n\u00e9rer. \u00c0 la suite de ce d\u00e9placement, la chapelle fut \u00e0 l\u2019abandon si bien que la nature a repris ses droits. De nos jours, il n\u2019en reste plus que des ruines.<\/p>
