Historique et \u00e9volution :<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
L\u2019\u00e9glise Saint-Martin d\u2019Elouges-Monceau est de style n\u00e9o-gothique. Elle d\u00e9pend du dioc\u00e8se de Cambrai, contrairement \u00e0 l\u2019autre \u00e9glise de la localit\u00e9 qui d\u00e9pend du dioc\u00e8se de Tournai. Elle fut construite en brique en 1879 \u00e0 l\u2019emplacement de l\u2019ancienne \u00e9glise romane qui avait \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9difi\u00e9e au XIe si\u00e8cle et reconstruite en 1432. En effet, en 1846, l\u2019ancienne \u00e9glise est en mauvais \u00e9tat si bien qu\u2019elle est d\u00e9truite en 1878.<\/p>\n
D\u2019un point de vue architectural, la nouvelle \u00e9glise comprend un ch\u0153ur avec chevet \u00e0 cinq pans, trois nefs de cinq trav\u00e9es, une tour occidentale et une tourelle sur la face sud. L\u2019int\u00e9rieur est couvert d\u2019une vo\u00fbte en berceau bris\u00e9 et rythm\u00e9 par des colonnes \u00e0 chapiteaux ouvrag\u00e9s.<\/p>\n
Actuellement, il est int\u00e9ressant\nd\u2019indiquer que cet \u00e9difice religieux, apr\u00e8s avoir \u00e9t\u00e9 mis en vente, fait\nl’objet d’un projet communal. <\/span> <\/span>\u00ab\u00a0<\/span>La d\u00e9molition de l\u2019\u00e9glise du Monceau n\u2019est que la premi\u00e8re\npartie du chantier. \u00ab Le projet consiste \u00e0 r\u00e9aliser un espace public\ntranquille, un v\u00e9ritable poumon vert et lieu paisible de promenades et de jeux\npour les plus petits. Ce petit parc sera construit en r\u00e9utilisant au maximum\nles mat\u00e9riaux de l\u2019actuel b\u00e2timent.
