Historique et \u00e9volution :<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>
Situ\u00e9 \u00e0 Petit-Dour, au coin des rues Ropaix et du Trieu, pr\u00e8s de l\u2019\u00e9glise, de la Grand-Place et de l\u2019\u00e9cole, le monument aux morts de \u00ab\u00a0Petit-Dour, d\u2019Offignies et de Coron du Bois\u00a0\u00bb se pr\u00e9sente sous la forme d\u2019un ob\u00e9lisque en pierre surmont\u00e9 d\u2019une urne sur lequel sont inscrits le nom des soldats d\u00e9c\u00e9d\u00e9s pour la patrie. Ainsi, il s\u2019agit d\u2019un monument comm\u00e9moratif de la Premi\u00e8re Guerre mondiale. En effet, le 6 septembre 1926, la section des Anciens Combattants de Petit-Dour et la F\u00e9d\u00e9ration Nationale des Combattants adressent une demande au Coll\u00e8ge des Bourgmestres et des Echevins afin de pouvoir \u00e9difier ce type de monument. Ils demandent \u00e9galement l\u2019autorisation de mener une collecte locale afin de pouvoir obtenir la somme n\u00e9cessaire \u00e0 cette construction. Ainsi, le 2 octobre 1926, le Coll\u00e8ge donna son accord si bien que les plans furent adopt\u00e9s en avril 1927 et la construction directement entam\u00e9e. Le 5 juin 1927, le monument aux morts fut inaugur\u00e9. Par la suite, un muret fut construit devant le monument en 1932.<\/p>
Par ailleurs, il convient d\u2019indiquer qu\u2019apr\u00e8s la guerre 40-45, on ajouta en plus un livre de pierre reprenant le nom des soldats d\u00e9c\u00e9d\u00e9s au cours de ce second conflit mondial.<\/p>
