Historique et \u00e9volution :<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>
Cette coop\u00e9rative \u00e9tait situ\u00e9e \u00e0 la rue du Peuple \u00e0 Dour. Elle fut cr\u00e9\u00e9e, en 1895, par Alfred Danhier qui en sera l\u2019administrateur pendant de nombreuses ann\u00e9es, et les membres d\u00e9missionnaires de la coop\u00e9rative des \u00ab\u00a0Ouvriers R\u00e9unis\u00a0\u00bb, cette coop\u00e9rative avait le m\u00eame but que celle des \u00ab\u00a0Ouvriers R\u00e9unis\u00a0\u00bb. En effet, chaque souscripteur \u00e9tait plac\u00e9 sur le m\u00eame pied d\u2019\u00e9galit\u00e9 et devait souscrire au capital social, chaque part \u00e9tant fix\u00e9e \u00e0 un montant maximum de 10 francs \u00e0 verser par acompte. En fin d\u2019ann\u00e9e, des ristournes \u00e9taient distribu\u00e9es en fonction des achats effectu\u00e9s dans le magasin au cours de l\u2019ann\u00e9e \u00e9coul\u00e9e. Ainsi, cette coop\u00e9rative a approvisionn\u00e9 les Dourois pendant une dizaine d\u2019ann\u00e9es selon le mode de fonctionnement cit\u00e9 ci-dessus.<\/p>
En 1898, elle fit l\u2019acquisition d\u2019un terrain sur lequel elle construit un nouveau four \u00e0 pain. Jusqu\u2019en 1900, elle s\u2019occupa uniquement de la boulangerie, de la vente de la margarine ainsi que de l\u2019exploitation d\u2019un cabaret\u00a0tout en ayant d\u00e9j\u00e0 organis\u00e9 une caisse de secours avec paiement de cotisations. En 1901, elle poss\u00e9da sa propre Maison du Peuple et son propre magasin. On y retrouva \u00e9galement un magasin de chaussures, de tissus, d\u2019ameublements et de po\u00ealeries ainsi qu\u2019une \u00e9picerie. Par ailleurs, la coop\u00e9rative comprenait aussi des halls qui servaient de tonnellerie, d\u2019abattoir et de remise pour les voitures et les camions. Dans ce contexte, il est \u00e0 souligner que la coop\u00e9rative s\u2019\u00e9tend sur un terrain de plus d\u2019un hectare acquis et d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 au fil des ann\u00e9es. De surcro\u00eet, au-dessus du b\u00e2timent principal, on retrouvait une salle des f\u00eates o\u00f9 se tenaient notamment les assembl\u00e9es g\u00e9n\u00e9rales de la coop\u00e9rative, des syndicats et de la mutuelle socialistes. Ainsi, on pouvait aussi y retrouver une brasserie et un parc avec un kiosque.<\/p>
Par ailleurs, il est int\u00e9ressant de noter que cette coop\u00e9rative entra en comp\u00e9tition avec celle des \u00ab Ouvriers r\u00e9unis\u00a0\u00bb. Cela amena, en 1922, \u00e0 la fusion de ces deux coop\u00e9ratives sous l\u2019appellation \u00ab\u00a0Les Socialistes R\u00e9unis\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>
