Historique et \u00e9volution :<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>

En raison de sa situation g\u00e9ographie, Dour constituait une plaque tournante vers la France. L\u2019histoire des premiers rails \u00e0 Dour est li\u00e9e au d\u00e9veloppement des charbonnages dans la r\u00e9gion. C\u2019est dans ce contexte que furent construits les premi\u00e8res gares charbonni\u00e8res. Celles-ci ont permis le d\u00e9veloppement \u00e9conomique de la r\u00e9gion. Ainsi, la gare charbonni\u00e8re de Dour \u00e9tait situ\u00e9e sur une grande esplanade entre les terrils de Sainte-Henriette, de la Grande Machine \u00e0 Feu et de Saint-Antoine. Elle permettait de relier Dour aux autres zones charbonni\u00e8res du Borinage mais aussi au-del\u00e0 de la r\u00e9gion. Elle connut de grandes heures \u00e0 la fin du XIXe si\u00e8cle et dans le premier tiers du XXe si\u00e8cle. Par la suite, le ralentissement des activit\u00e9s houill\u00e8res amena \u00e0 son d\u00e9mant\u00e8lement progressif apr\u00e8s les ann\u00e9es 1960 si bien que les b\u00e2timents seront abandonn\u00e9s.<\/p>

Du point de vue architectural, la gare comprenait des locaux dans le style typique Etat belge de 1873. Ainsi, on y retrouvait une salle fonctionnelle, des guichets, un local administratif mais aussi un hangar aux marchandises, une rampe de chargement, une remise technique et une cabine m\u00e9canique de signalisation. En 1872, elle est ouverte au public. Elle est excentr\u00e9e par rapport \u00e0 Dour mais elle compte pourtant un \u00ab\u00a0H\u00f4tel du commerce\u00a0\u00bb. Ainsi, cet h\u00f4tel servait non seulement de lieu d\u2019h\u00e9bergement, mais aussi de \u00ab\u00a0Caf\u00e9 de la gare\u00a0\u00bb. Dans ce contexte, il convient d\u2019indiquer que cet h\u00f4tel fut d\u00e9truit au d\u00e9but des ann\u00e9es 1980 \u00e0 la suite d\u2019un incendie.<\/p>

Par ailleurs, il est int\u00e9ressant d\u2019indiquer que le d\u00e9veloppement \u00e9conomique de la station et de son quartier a \u00e9t\u00e9 rendu possible, outre la ligne internationationale, gr\u00e2ce aux raccordements priv\u00e9s. Parmi ces derniers, nous pouvons citer la jonction mini\u00e8re de l\u2019Ouest de Mons, la ligne utilis\u00e9e par la Brasserie Cavenaile ou encore celle de la Brasserie Patte. Ainsi, les corderies Harmegnies de Dour furent \u00e9galement reli\u00e9es aux lignes de la gare de Dour et les ateliers Patte.<\/p>

Dans ce contexte, il convient d\u2019indiquer que la gare de Dour n\u2019existe plus aujourd\u2019hui. Ses b\u00e2timents sont en ruine. Ainsi, les anciennes lignes ont \u00e9t\u00e9 remplac\u00e9es par des ravels dont les informations sont disponibles aux adresses suivantes :<\/p>
