Historique et \u00e9volution :<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>
Situ\u00e9 \u00e0 la rue du Longterne, le Longterne de Dour est d\u00e9j\u00e0 mentionn\u00e9 en 1402. Le nom passera ensuite \u00e0 une veine du charbon dont les textes font d\u00e9j\u00e0 \u00e9tat en 1586. Par la suite, un charbonnage, cit\u00e9 en 1625, situ\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019ouest du Rieu des Pr\u00e8s, vers Elouges, le reprendra. Vers 1725-1730, une mine du m\u00eame nom est toujours en activit\u00e9. Celle-ci fait partie des seize exploitations existant \u00e0 Dour.<\/p>
Dans ce contexte, il convient de souligner, comme nous l\u2019indique cette source, qu\u2019il ne faut pas confondre ce site avec celui du Longterne-Ferrand \u00e0 Elouges. En effet, bien que ces deux derniers exploitent les m\u00eames veines, il s\u2019agit de deux soci\u00e9t\u00e9s distinctes.<\/p>
En 1797, le Longterne de Dour s\u2019unira au charbonnage du Petit Tas, Moreau et Auvergies \u00e0 Warquignies. Toutefois, il est \u00e0 noter que, malgr\u00e9 leur r\u00e9union, les deux charbonnages rest\u00e8rent s\u00e9par\u00e9s aussi bien pour la gestion que la comptabilit\u00e9 ou m\u00eame la vente. De plus, \u00e0 cette \u00e9poque, seul le Longterne, avec un puits en activit\u00e9, produit de la houille. N\u00e9anmoins, la capacit\u00e9 extractive \u00e9tant plus importante au charbonnage du Petit-Tas, Moreau et Auvergnies qu\u2019\u00e0 celui de Longterne entra\u00eena une scission. Celle-ci fut effective en 1806. Ainsi, dans les ann\u00e9es qui suivirent, le charbonnage essaya d\u2019exploiter deux puits\u00a0: Saint-Victor et Saint-Charles. Cependant, tr\u00e8s rapidement, le site fut confront\u00e9 \u00e0 une mauvaise extraction li\u00e9e aux venues d\u2019eau importante ou encore aux veines qui s\u2019y faisaient failleuses.\u00a0C\u2019est pourquoi, dans les ann\u00e9es 1811-1812, les directeurs d\u00e9cid\u00e8rent d\u2019y arr\u00eater tout type d\u2019extraction. N\u00e9anmoins, le Longterne demeura et en 1836, ce charbonnage fut associ\u00e9 \u00e0 la Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 de Commerce afin de cr\u00e9er la Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Anonyme des Charbonnages et Hauts-Fourneaux de Longterne.<\/p>
