Historique et \u00e9volution :<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>
La gare d\u2019Elouges \u00e9tait situ\u00e9e \u00e0 la rue du Stade \u00e0 Elouges.<\/p>
Le chemin de fer \u00e0 orni\u00e8re et \u00e0 traction chevaline date de 1836, lorsque les autorit\u00e9s d\u00e9cid\u00e8rent de \u00ab\u00a0moderniser\u00a0\u00bb le transport du charbon. Dans ce contexte, la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 des Houilles Grasses d\u2019Elouges profite de l\u2019installation de la gare charbonni\u00e8re de Dour pour s\u2019y connecter. En 1859, le charbonnage de Ferrand \u00e9tait connect\u00e9 au rail \u00e9lougeois, puis directement \u00e0 la gare charbonni\u00e8re de Dour en 1874.<\/p>
Par ailleurs, en 1873, la gare d\u2019Elouges fut mise en service gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 l\u2019arriv\u00e9e de la ligne de Qui\u00e9vrain. En effet, il s\u2019agissait de la ligne 98 en provenance de Mons, via Dour et qui poursuivait sa route vers Qui\u00e9vrain. Ainsi, cette ligne traverse le village d\u00e8s 1882. Il s\u2019agissait d\u2019un axe \u00e0 voie unique qui se d\u00e9doublait aux abords des quais d\u2019Elouges. Dans ce contexte, il est int\u00e9ressant de noter que la gare \u00e9tait compos\u00e9e de hangars \u00e0 marchandises, d\u2019un bureau des recettes, des appartements du chef, d\u2019une salle des guichets, d\u2019une aile technique et de toilettes. Le quai n\u00b02 \u00e9tait \u00e9quip\u00e9 d\u2019un abri pour les voyageurs.<\/p>
En ao\u00fbt 1961, lorsque cesse la circulation des marchandises et des voyageurs de la ligne 98, la gare ferme ses portes. Aujourd\u2019hui, le hangar et le b\u00e2timent principal ont \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9nov\u00e9s par des priv\u00e9s.<\/p>
