Historique et \u00e9volution :<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>
Situ\u00e9e \u00e0 la rue d\u2019Audregnies, aujourd\u2019hui nomm\u00e9e Route Verte, les travaux de la sucrerie de Blaugies commenc\u00e8rent en 1870. En effet, le 20 juillet de la m\u00eame ann\u00e9e, il fut d\u00e9cid\u00e9 que Monsieur Boisseau pouvait \u00e9tablir \u00e0 Blaugies une fabrique de sucre de betteraves. En 1871, cette entreprise \u00e9tait consid\u00e9r\u00e9e comme la plus importante de la localit\u00e9.<\/p>
D\u2019avril 1877 au 31 ao\u00fbt 1878, la sucrerie fut dirig\u00e9e par Omer Andr\u00e9 Roch. Le 9 juin 1888, encore appel\u00e9e Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Jules Bouvez, elle sollicite l\u2019autorisation de la commune pour \u00e9tablir un cinqui\u00e8me g\u00e9n\u00e9rateur dans l\u2019usine. Elle est alors dirig\u00e9e par un nouveau directeur, Joseph Louis Philippe Bernier. Le 30 juillet 1888, elle est constitu\u00e9e en soci\u00e9t\u00e9 anonyme.<\/p>
Au cours de l\u2019\u00e9t\u00e9 1891, la sucrerie obtient l\u2019autorisation des autorit\u00e9s communales d\u2019\u00e9tablir trois nouvelles machines \u00e0 vapeur. \u00c0 partir de cette ann\u00e9e-l\u00e0, l\u2019entreprise ne cessera de s\u2019agrandir. Toutefois, le 1^{er<\/sup> mars 1899, Joseph Louis Philippe Bernier meurt pr\u00e9matur\u00e9ment. Dans ce contexte, son fr\u00e8re, Jules Bernier, va reprendre la direction de la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 le 27 avril 1899.<\/p>}
En 1903, la sucrerie de Blaugies est toujours en fonction. Toutefois, malgr\u00e9 la volont\u00e9 de Jules Bernier d\u2019agrandir \u00e0 nouveau la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 en juin 1903, l\u2019entreprise est vendue le 31 mai 1904 \u00e0 Louis Marlier qui, apr\u00e8s avoir d\u00e9mont\u00e9 les machines et les appareils, met en vente la propri\u00e9t\u00e9. Ainsi, elle est achet\u00e9e le 14 octobre 1905 par Eug\u00e8ne Sti\u00e9venart et Pauline Huge pour en faire une ferme. Apr\u00e8s quelques travaux de r\u00e9novation, ils prennent possession du bien le 12 d\u00e9cembre 1905. Par ailleurs, il est int\u00e9ressant de noter que, malgr\u00e9 que la propri\u00e9t\u00e9 fut transform\u00e9e en ferme, la haute chemin\u00e9e de la sucrerie fut conserv\u00e9e jusqu\u2019en 1915.<\/p>
