N\u00e9 \u00e0 Elouges, le 21 novembre 1837, Jules Bochon d\u00e9cide de se consacrer \u00e0 l\u2019industrie et au commerce apr\u00e8s avoir, durant de longues ann\u00e9es, collabor\u00e9 aux travaux et aux entreprises de la maison paternelle. Ainsi, il ira dans les Indes et dans les deux Am\u00e9riques instaurer de nouvelles entreprises.<\/p>

Par la suite, il fut conseiller communal \u00e0 Elouges avant de devenir bourgmestre de cette m\u00eame localit\u00e9 pendant plus de douze ans.<\/p>

Par ailleurs, il fut aussi membre de \u00ab\u00a0l\u2019Association conservatrice de Mons\u00a0\u00bb au sein de laquelle il se d\u00e9vouait notamment \u00e0 la propagation chr\u00e9tienne. En 1908, il devint membre du Conseil provincial avant d\u2019\u00eatre nomm\u00e9 membre d\u00e9l\u00e9gu\u00e9 du canton de Dour.<\/p>
